Oh, I love Nick n' Nora. This movie is the 6th of the 7 Thin Man movies. It is just about as charming as all of them are - with just as impressive a cast. This seems to be a trademark of the Thin Man movies. Everyone that I have seen has a cast with a interesting mix of stock character actors as well as some up-and-coming stars. I think these movies were used as a springboard for the newest stars. To test them out, so to speak. Couple them with the more experienced actors to learn a few things. Plus, the established actors were either pleasant surprises or box office draws.
Obviously you have Nick and Norah on a sleuth case - this time in Nick's hometown. Suddenly everyone wants a painting of an old windmill and a couple of murders. But this time, Nick is gone dry - almost. To honor his parent's wishes, he gives up his beloved martinis. But he does guzzle a lot of cidar. Nick just wouldn't be Nick without a drink in his hand.
Anyways, it is a wonderful story, and again, you will not believe who the killer is.
3 and 1/2 out of 5 stars
